Hill Country Edge
Boerne City Park is a 125-acre park — Boerne's largest — bordered along one full side by Cibolo Creek's cypress-lined banks. The park anchors the southern end of the 1.75-mile Cibolo Trail, a paved path that runs all the way to Main Plaza in historic downtown Boerne, making it a popular connector for cyclists and joggers. Sports facilities include soccer fields, tennis courts, and a swimming pool, while the creek frontage offers catch-and-release fishing and shallow wading pools during normal water levels. The park sits immediately adjacent to the Cibolo Nature Center, creating a continuous natural corridor of creek, woodland, and open space through the heart of Boerne. Tubing and kayaking on Cibolo Creek are most practical upstream at private outfitters on Highway 46 rather than at the city park itself, where access depends on seasonal water levels. The park is free and open to the public.
Shade Details
Some of the best creek shade in the Hill Country. Enormous bald cypress trees form a full canopy over the creek. Midday here is comfortable even in July.
Conditions & Tips
Swimming hole depth depends on recent rainfall. After drought, may be shallow. Cypress foliage turns golden in November — beautiful fall color.
