Coastal Bend
Coleto Creek Park & Reservoir, managed by the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority on US Highway 59 between Victoria and Goliad, centers on a 3,100-acre reservoir that draws anglers for white bass, hybrid striped bass, largemouth bass, crappie, catfish, and bluegill. The park's main nature trail is a 0.8-mile easy loop through the 190-acre property, traversing live oak groves, reservoir shoreline, and open grassland prairie with good wildlife-viewing and photography opportunities. A 200-foot lighted fishing pier extends over the water for shore anglers. Two covered group pavilions, sand volleyball courts, playgrounds, and marked swimming areas round out the day-use facilities, while 20 multi-use campsites with electrical hookups and 59 full-hookup sites accommodate overnight visitors. Three camping cabins are also available. Day-use fees are $17 per vehicle for up to four people. The park sits about 25 miles south of Victoria and provides a quieter, less-crowded alternative to state park reservoirs, particularly attractive during spring waterfowl migration when the reservoir attracts diverse birdlife.
