Hill Country
Kerrville-Schreiner Park is a 517-acre city park — the largest municipal park in Kerrville — straddling both sides of State Highway 173 along the Guadalupe River, about 3 miles from downtown. The Hill Side features 14-plus miles of hiking and mountain biking trails ranging from easy to difficult, and a paved connection to the 6-mile Kerrville River Trail extends the network further along the riverbank. Day-use admission is $6 for adults and $2 for children, with the park open daily from 8 a.m. The River Side provides direct Guadalupe River access for swimming, fishing, kayaking, and canoeing, with rentals available on site. Camping options range from water-electric RV sites to tent sites and mini-cabins, and the park's Recreation Hall and Amphitheater host regular events. Spring wildflowers along the trails are a seasonal highlight. The park is pet-friendly on hiking trails with leash requirements; day guests must depart by 10 p.m.
Shade Details
Good shade along the river and in campground; more exposed on ridge hiking trails.
